  1. I bought this cute plant and on the flowers it looks like mildew. I isolated it away from my other AV. What can I do about this? It also has leaves edges trimmed in white or cream. Is this normal?

    1. The leaves trimmed in white or cream may be normal variegation. Many types are variegated. If the dust on the flowers looks like mildew, white, not yellow, it probably is powdery mildew. Remove the flowers. If it comes back, and it might, spray the plants with skim milk or neem spray. If the powder is yellow, it is most likely pollen. This might be an indication of flower thrips, an insect that feeds on pollen. It is tiny, looks like a light colored sliver about the size of a comma. Remove all the flowers and keep them removed for about a month.

  2. Ok, I'll try spraying with milk. Thank you Shanti.
