Featured violet: Trinket O Pink

Trinket O'Pink is a real alley cat when it comes to being prolific, both in bloom and propagation. Each leaf stuck often produces over a dozen little plants. It is a variegated variety with fully double medium pink flowers.  This is one of those variegated ones that are very sensitive to temperature. It gets above 80F, and it completely loses the variegation. It reappears when the temperatures get cooler. One of my favorites.

(E. Champion). Double bright pink. Variegated green and tan/red back. Semi miniature.

Featured violet: Jolly Coral

This is one of my favorite pinks. Bright, clear coral. Blooms profusely. It's only fault, and some may not consider this one, it also suckers profusely. They must be removed to encourage blooming.

What can I say about this violet that it doesn't say for itself? It is a pretty, clear, pure white with variegated green and white foliage. It is also a trailer.

Featured violet: Gillian, big, white, bold blossoms

I really like white violets.  The simple, pure white is quite beautiful. Even more so when there are HUGE, frilly blooms involved.  The blossoms on Gillian are typically 2 1/2-3" white, pure white with no pink or blue tinge.  Just and absolutely gorgeous violet when in full bloom.

D. Ferguson. Double white, large, star,. Medium green, plain, quilted. Standard.

Featured violet: Teen Bride

Teen bride is one of the loveliest violets I own. It's delicate blushing pink and very showy displays of bloom. Easy to shape nicely and practically impossible to keep it from blooming. Not only does it bloom heavily for each bloom period, it also has a shorter recovery time between blossoming episodes.

H. Pittman. Double light pink. Plain green glossy. Semi-miniature.

NEW! Buy plants or leaves from this page.

Details: Look to the right to find the buy now buttons. One is for plants, one is for leaves. Choose the number from the drop down menu. You will be taken to Paypal to enter in the information.  Put the names of the varieties desired in the message to seller area. Up to 9 plants will ship in the box from April-Sept for a flat rate of $8.00. Why so high? Besides the postage, there are shipping materials involved that I have to purchase, styrofoam peanuts, stryrofoam cups, etc.  Unlimited leaves ship for $5.00. Leaves ship free with the plants, but in order to do that, request an invoice so I can combine the shipping correctly.

NOTE: I do ship violets in the winter.  From November-March, the shipping cost is $10.00 for 8 plants and unlimited leaves. Leaves do not ship in their own box in the winter.  The box is lined with 3" building insulation and a heat pack is included. I have had great success with this method.  One customer told me they were still warm and fine after sitting on his porch for 5 hours with it below zero.

Yet another note: I can NOT ship internationally nor to CA, HI, or AZ.  The restrictions are too costly. to comply with.

Assurances: I guarantee live delivery of plants. Photo may be required to prove death. I do reserve the right to postpone shipping if the weather is over 100 degrees from where I ship in NY state to where ever they are going.  One end or the other seems ok, but if it's over 100 here and at it's destination, the plants don't do well.

My plants are inspected by NYS Ag. and Markets. I am a licensed grower. I use organic controls, neem and soap for pests and my plants get sprayed every few months as a preventative. They get checked for problems once a week.

Any questions? contact me by leaving a comment. I check the blog once a day or every few days at the most.

Featured Violet: Rob's Who Dunnit

Ralph Robinson is the hybridizer if this fantastic little violet. Not only does he hybridize the best little plants with lots of flowers, the plants are compact, shape easily, and the names are quirky and fantastic.  My favorite name is Rob's Suicidal Squirrel...what  a hoot.

Semi double, white sticktite pansy, bright red eye, variable thin red edge (temperature dependent) medium green, quilted, glossy.

Available as plants and leaves. $2.75 for plants, $1.00 each for leaves.

Optimara Little Crystal

This little gem is quite the beauty and one of the Optimara series of gems.  As you can see, when it is happy, it blooms its heart out. Often times, you can't even see the plant. It bears wasp flowers, those that are pinched at the waist. It occasionally has a blue tint, depending on the temperature.  Just a fantastic little plant from one of the world's leading hybridizers.

Holtkamp, semi-double white wasp, medium green heart shaped, hairy, glossy. Miniature.

Available as leaves and plants. $2.75 per plant, $1.00 per leaf.

Pearly Buttons

I really like this violet. The double flowers are like a shell button in color. Mostly white with every so often a touch of pink blush...like the inside of a shell. Very prolific bloomer. It does tend to sucker quite a bit at first but removing them once seems to promote lots of blooms and only a few suckers after that.

A.E. Adams, double white, dark green, plain. Miniature.

Available as plants and leaves.

Baby White

Baby White. This miniature is truly a small violet. It rarely gets any wider than about 3". It is so floriforous it can sometimes hide all its leaves!   Semi double and double white flower with occasional pink blush...temperature dependent. Medium green, pointed leaves, smooth.

The only fault I find with this plant is that it suckers profusely and if you don't notice and remove them, they can distort the entire crown.  They can be rooted if they are big enough.

Available as plants and leaves. See the links at the right for where to buy the plant or leaves.

Ballet Blue Ice

The very first plant I bought of this variety absolutely wowed me with its beauty. I opened the container it was in and it was in bloom and the color just blew me away. It's difficult to catch that "wow" from a picture. It has remained one of my favorites. It has a somewhat funky growth habit in that the crown tends to create a neck quite quickly and it is difficult to get it to shape nicely.  Leaves tend to want to twist and not grow the way you want them to. But to me, the flowers more than make up for this.

A.Fischer, semi-double, dark blue, darker edge.  Miniature.

Available as plants and leaves.

Highlight Of African Violet Varieties

This is ACA's Glamor Puss. It is a very prolific blooming semi-miniature. J. Brownlie, semi-double, double, plum pink, two tone pansy. Medium green leaves. The picture really does not capture the intensity of the plum which gets darker at the center of blossom. One of my favorites. Available as plants and leaves. Check out the links of where to buy.
