Featured African violet problem

This is what happens when African violets are watered with water warmer or colder than room temperature. Water used should not be more than 10 degrees F, warmer or colder. Best to draw the water at least 12 hours before using so the water has time to equalize.

Some varieties are more susceptible to this type of damage. This is RD's Illusion. Very susceptible as is Ness' Red Velvet. The lighter green leaves seem to be the most susceptible, though I have seen damage on dark green leaves, especially with cold water. Incidentally, the problem here was caused by being watered by warm water. No water touched the leaves as all my violets are bottom watered.
Yes I have a cat and dog...and wooden floors. The hair is constantly airborne and settling on the violets. Once a week I go through the entire collection with an artist's paint brush and brush them clean. They can also be rinsed with tepid water at the sink. Let them dry completely before putting them in the sun.
